PVCC, NOVAPAK, AIROPAK AND MARPAC LOCATIONS ACHIEVE ISO 9001:2000 CERTIFICATION
PVC Container Corporation's headquarters and five blow molding
plants operated by three of its divisions were certified to ISO
9001:2000 quality standards in 2003, it was announced by Phillip
Friedman, president and CEO.
Novapak Corporation, a major producer
of plastic containers for consumer products, received ISO 9001:2000
certification at three of its blow molding facilities: Paris, IL,
Hazleton, PA and Philmont, NY.
The Manchester, PA location of Airopak
Corporation, a leading blow molder of high barrier containers also
received its ISO certification, as did the Philmont, NY location
of Marpac Corporation, a technical blow molder of complex containers
and original equipment parts.
ISO 9001:2000 is a series of standards dealing with quality management
systems developed by the Geneva-based International Standardization
Organization,
recognized by most of the leading manufacturing companies world-wide.
In a highly structured fashion, it requires stringent controls,
procedures and rigorous documentation of the quality of materials,
equipment, personnel, and all other aspects of the manufacturing
process to continuously improve the quality and consistency of
products. The Underwriters Laboratory has been chosen to monitor
the company’s compliance with these standards.
PVC Container Corporation was established in 1968 and blow molds
more than a billion containers and technical parts annually in
PET, HDPE, MDPE, PP, PVC and other resins.
Its Novapak Division
is one of the nation's largest producers of blow molded and decorated
bottles and specialty containers for personal care, household,
food, beverage, automotive and chemical products. Bottles from
1 oz. to 2 ˝ gallons are molded of PET, PVC and HDPE in more than 500 shapes and sizes.
The Airopak Division molds HDPE containers from one pint to 2 ˝ gallons using
an in-line fluorination process to form an inner barrier layer that is 500
times more resistant to solvent-based chemicals than untreated HDPE. The company
also produces ultra pure containers by using inert nitrogen as the blowing
gas and capping empty containers on-line.
Marpac Corporation's technical blow
molded parts range in size from 3 ounces to 5 gallons and are custom
molded in a broad range of resins and complex shapes for demanding
applications including
parts and containers for office machines, food products, healthcare/medical
products, automotive parts and specialty/proprietary products.
Novatec Plastics Corporation, Eatontown, NJ, another PVCC division,
is a compounder of rigid PVC, rigid PVC foam, and PVC/ABS alloys
for
blow molding, extrusion,
and injection molding applications.
