AIROPAK PRODUCTS
In-line fluorinated and decorated containers for solvent and d-limonene-based products
NOVAPAK's Airopak barrier HDPE containers are blow molded using a dilute mixture of fluorine in nitrogen as the blowing gas instead of air. Fluorine gas chemically modifies all interior surfaces of molten HDPE containers as they are blown, forming an inner barrier that resists permeation by solvent-based chemicals up to 500 times better than untreated HDPE, making the containers suitable for packaging of janitorial, industrial, and consumer products such as: d-limonene-based cleaning products; industrial chemicals and solvents; lawn and garden chemicals; automotive waxes, polishes, oils and additives; and agricultural chemicals.
As a result, in-line fluorinated HDPE containers can often be substituted for glass or metal containers, reducing package costs as well as potential breakage during shipping, storage and display.
Airopak products range in capacity from one pint to 2.5 gallons
(500 ml to 10 liter) and are offered in white, natural and custom
colors, with pressure-sensitive labeling, sleeve labeling, screen
printing, and heat-transfer labeling.
Because colored HDPE resin can reduce the effectiveness of the in-line fluorination process, NOVAPAK can co-extrude products with an inner layer of unpigmented resin and an outer layer of colored and/or recycled material, meeting barrier, color and cost requirements without compromise.
In addition to molding of high-barrier properties using fluorine
gas, NOVAPAK molds ultra-pure Airopak products using pure, inert nitrogen
as the blowing gas, preventing microbial and particulate contamination from entering the container during manufacture.
In-line capping seals the containers until they are ultimately
filled with ultra-pure liquids used in electronics manufacturing,
healthcare
and other
contamination-sensitive applications.
